CGA has the following vacancy to begin work as soon as possible:
Citrus Pest Control Programme Coordinator
A proactive and innovative agronomist/entomologist is required who will enjoy analyzing complex pest situations and developing goal oriented plans to significantly reduce, within a very short time frame, the threats posed to citrus industry from the pests.
If this challenging position sounds like you, and your application is successful you will be charged with coordinating programmes to establish:
(i) fruit-fly free areas within the citrus industry
(ii) area wide control of the Asian citrus psyllid and
(iii) control of Brevapalpus mites.
You will have supervisory skills with the capacity to tell others what you expect of them while considering their views and suggestions of the most effective way of implementing the programme. You will feel comfortable working in an environment where the resources are never enough but this will not deter you as you will be good at identifying opportunities and seeing the possibilities that exist for getting the job done on time.
You will have a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in a relevant subject together with relevant working experience and be willing to work long flexible hours, including weekends, be fluent in English and (preferably) Spanish and hold a valid driver's license. Previous experience in the citrus industry and / or working with insect/disease control programmes would be a distinct advantage.
