Laboratory and Screenhouse Technician - Belize Citrus Improvement Programme
CGA has a vacancy for a hard working person to assist in carrying out serological, molecular and biological laboratory analysis for the detection of citrus diseases. This task is part of a citrus improvement programme to supply high quality healthy propagative material to the Belize citrus industry.
The successful applicant should have a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant subject area (biology, science or agriculture); an Associate’s degree with working experience will be considered. The applicant must be able to plan and conduct basic laboratory experiments, have good report writing skills, must enjoy paying keen attention to details, solving problems and carefully following set procedures. He/she must have excellent interpersonal relationship skills and be an effective communicator both orally and in-writing (in English). He/she must be willing to work long flexible hours, including weekends (if necessary), be fluent in English and (preferably) Spanish, be able to work under pressure and hold a valid driving license. Previous experience in laboratory work and a chemistry background would be a distinct advantage.
