Citrus Fruit Third Payment for 2011 - 2012
Final prices for oranges and grapefruit delivered to Citrus Products of Belize Limited (CPBL) for 2011-2012 crop year have been announced. These prices are accepted pending critical review by the Citrus Growers Association and in the interest of a timely payment to growers. There are material issues that require closer examination and reconciliation before this third payment is accepted as the final payment.
Oranges: $2.3115 per pound solid or ($14.5216 per box).
Grapefruit: $2.1255 per pound solid or ($8.8579 per box).
On September 15th growers who delivered fruit will receive the balance of fruit payment due, which is:
Oranges: $0.3269 per pound solids ($2.0537 per box) (Average factory ps per box of orange for 2011-2012 = 6.2787 pound solid)
Grapefruit: $0.3382 per pound solids ($1.4094 per box), (Average factory ps per box of grapefruit for 2011-2012 = 4.0852 pound solid).
Per Price Formula Agreement, growers will receive payment for additional pound solids yielded by the factory over the lab as determined and verified by the independent auditor’s report. The 85% payment for these additional pound solids, based on the prices paid at 2nd payment ($1.9837) will be the amount of this separate payment. The balance of 15% will be included in the regular third payment check mentioned above.
In addition some growers will also receive a separate payment for special quality fruits they delivered. This payment for premium quality fruit delivered will be paid at the rate of an additional $0.09246 per pound solid ($0.5808 per box) for oranges and $0.1806 per pound solid ($0.7526 per box) for grapefruit.
Growers can expect payments on September 17 and checks can be picked up at the Citrus Growers & Workers Credit Union Office in Dangriga Town.
