Financial Assistance is provided to growers through low interest credit programs. There are four credit or loan programs offered to members of CGA:
Social Security: This credit line is offered to growers who are members of CGA and produce more than 30,000 boxes of orange and grapefruit averaged over two crop years. Growers can access the maximum credit of $2.00 per box of citrus produced. The interest is 11.5 % for one year crop loans.
Revolving Fund: Growers who are members of CGA with less than 30,000 boxes of production can access this fund up to a maximum of $2.00 per box of fruit. The interest for this credit is 5.5% per annum. The loan is for inputs including cleaning of groves, harvesting, haulage and other practices related to the production and sale of citrus.
European Investment Bank/CGA/Development Finance Corporation citrus replanting loans: This credit is for members of CGA. The loans are available for rehabilitation of groves. The interest is 8% for 5 years with 2 years grace at the implementation of the project. This is for rehabilitation of groves to improve production.
Short term credit: members can get credit for 30 days without interest.
